Sunday, August 11, people gathered from far and wide for the annual outdoor cemetery Mass.
Although it looked like it might rain we lucked out and the sky became more and more bright and sunny as the Mass went on.
It was a little windy (but it usually is in Summerfield, and that kept the temperature down.
It also necessitated Fr. Jay to keep covers on the ciboria and the paten on the chalice .
The sermon was on the text from the Gospel of Luke, "Have no fear little flock, it is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
Everyone was encouraged to open the Gift of the Kingdom and sing the songs of Jesus.
The choir ready to sing.
Following Communion the New Cross in the cemetery was blessed.
Blooms were blessed to be placed on the graves of our loved ones and friends.
Following Mass the large crowd proceeded to the shady side of the church for sandwiches and sweets.
A good time was had by all.
