Clothing donations from the people of St James and Holy Family Parish Christmas 2019
As in previous years we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in our parishes.
These gifts have been given to the people in West Prince though the outreach services of Notre Dame place in Summerside. Notre Dame Place is a clubhouse where individuals with mental or emotional illness can become members. It provides an environment of support and encouragement that enables its membership to strive towards more meaningful and satisfying lives. It is a place of opportunity, and of hope. Like people everywhere, those with mental illness need to feel they are part of a community that values and respects them and provides them with opportunities to make a contribution.
We have donated a large number of clothes to the St. Vincent de Paul society of Our Lady of Lourdes parish in New Glasgow Nova Scotia. They distribute these to a wide range of people in need and as well offer them to non-Catholic groups who care for the people facing economic and mental health challenges. Garments are given to people in recovery from addictions or incarceration.
A few of our donations went to Halifax and were gifted to the working poor.
